Striker Acquision Strategy...
We desperately need another quality Goal scorer ...12+ goals a season...to target top 6-8th regularly ...

Buy one at the 20 million mark......

...or a couple with potential like Sakho at 8-10million each...

Will the Chairmen do it next summer...and which way is best...

We rarely do well buying strikers...

You all know, because of Bilic, we are going to end up with Yilmaz and Tore to supply the bullets. Even so,Yilmaz is ten times better than Carroll. 137 goals from 219 top Turkish League and International matches. If he did even half of that in The Premier, he'd be better than all our other strikers put together for at least 3 seasons.

Valencia and Carroll maybe ok. We should look at the end of the season6. Personally I think carroll wont ever come good.

Austin on afree transfer end of season would sound sensible.

I don't think Hernandez was willing to join us.

I think the people that wanted the clogger Austin over the greedy Mexican were in the minority.

To be fair they would both score tons more than our current crop of 'fit' strikers.

Ron, Unfortunately that is the way football has gone in this country and why we get smashed as soon as we play a country that believes in producing footballers first and foremost rather that athletes.

I nefer rated Austin...with or without knee problems...

Prehistoric BFS type striker...

Hernandez type quality striker is more today's need...especially at Bilic's West Ham...

I don't believe he really rates Carroll...just helping the Chairman move him out and recover some cash...

Doesn't surprise me Port. This site goes for physique over technique all day long. Always been like that.
This site knocked Rio and Di Canio when I first come on here.
Lomas & Repka had a load of fans for knocking people over a lot though. Never understood it.

Re: Striker Acquision Strategy...
I wanted Hernandez. His movement is electric and proved he can score goals. Surprised me how many preferred Austin because he is bigger. I'm not sure if we could have got him here anyway, Leverkusen are a good side.

Re: Striker Acquision Strategy...
Of all current strikers which are the ones that are missing all the chances that this new striker is going to be taking every game?

The biggest criticism I will have of our midfield is that they actually don't really look to create much for our forwards which is usually means releasing the ball early something our attacking midfielders don't seem keen to do.

In fairness I think the role of our striker is to provide the movement and link play that creates openings for the attacking midfield than to score a shed load of goals themselves, if we had a forward that could do both I think we would be a very rich club at the end of the next transfer window and strikerless again.

Sadly for me this once again comes back to the random why we recruit players, for example if a type of player is vital to how we play well we should ensure we have someone capable of covering that position properly rather than have a player who spends his whole career with us struggling to play an unnatural role having to fill in, this is something we seem to do with strikers constantly with both the individual and the team suffering because of this.

Re: Striker Acquision Strategy...
We can't afford 20m players, we need to be sensible and look at getting in as many young talents as we can to improve the overall squad. Not just put all our eggs in one basket.

I'd get SEBASTIAN HALLER from Utrecht. He'd suit us perfectly and wouldn't cost a great deal.

I'd improve the midfield as well and get HAKIM ZIYECH from Twente. Knows how to notch as well.
